Program Overview

The CMEL add-on program is designed for pilots who already hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate with a single-engine class rating. You will train exclusively in the Diamond DA42 — the ideal advanced trainer for professional multiengine training.

Our syllabus is standardized. Every student follows the same progression, building multiengine aerodynamics knowledge and systems understanding on the ground before applying it in the aircraft. No wasted flights, no ad-hoc lesson plans.

What You Will Learn

  • Multiengine aerodynamics, Vmc, and single-engine performance
  • DA42 systems — FADEC, fuel, electrical, landing gear, propeller
  • Normal and abnormal multiengine procedures
  • Engine-out approaches, go-arounds, and single-engine ILS
  • Multiengine maneuvers to Commercial ACS standards
  • CRM, flows, and callouts used at the airline level

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need multiengine time before starting

No. The program starts from zero multiengine time and builds to checkride readiness. Prior multi time may shorten the program.

Can I complete the program if I fly in from out of state

Yes. Most of our CMEL students travel to Mesa specifically for this program. We can recommend nearby accommodations and coordinate your schedule in advance.

Is the checkride fee included

The DPE checkride fee is a separate cost paid directly to the examiner. We schedule the checkride for you before you arrive so there is no wait.

What if I need additional training beyond 10 days

Some students finish sooner, some need a day or two more. You pay only for the flight time and instruction you use. There are no package penalties for going over.
